WHAT IS AN INTERCESSORY PRAYER MINISTRY?
An intercessory prayer ministry consists of individuals who are committed to dedicating some of their time each day to pray for the needs of others.
WHAT IS "OUR LADY'S PARTNERS IN PRAYER"?
Our Lady's Partners in Prayer is the name that has been selected for the intercessory prayer ministry that has recently been established at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Parish.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
After about three months of preparation, we were able to start things off by distributing an introductory folder to all members of the prayer ministry. To allow for easier flow of information the group was divided into six teams, each named for one of the Mysteries of the Rosary such as the Annunciation Team. Each folder contained items that we thought were helpful, or in some cases necessary, in starting a person off in this ministry:
- The welcoming letter explains the process to the new member.
- The list of intercessions (different for each team) informs the member who to pray for and why.
- A team list provides the names, addresses and phone numbers of the team members.
- Other items included as gifts to the new member.
The list of intercessions is separated into three parts:
- General
- Special
- Individual Intercessions
A new list of Individual Intercessions will be distributed monthly to all members on a rotational basis (one or two teams will receive a new list each week).
HOW CAN I GET MY PRAYER REQUEST TO THE MINISTRY?
As most of you know, there is a statue of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary on the left wall in the church. To the right of Her statue is a small table which holds a basket. In front of the basket are Prayer Request Forms. Simply fill out one of these forms with the name (first name or initials only, please) of the person for whom we should pray, and a short explanation of the reason (need) for the prayers. Then fold the paper and place it in the basket.
If you prefer, you may call either of the people listed at the bottom of this page and tell them your request.
HOW CAN I BECOME PART OF THE PRAYER MINISTRY?
Behind the basket described above you will find Registration Forms. Fill in the necessary information, fold it and place it in the basket. Someone will be in touch with you.
IF I JOIN THE PRAYER MINISTRY, WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
All we ask is that you pray 10-15 minutes each day for the intercessions that you receive. If you already have a healthy daily prayer regimen, all you need to do is add these intentions to the ones you currently pray for.
